The mini series on John Adams is getting me going. Though I like Jefferson better and Madison the best. |

| itunes library |
[Dec. 19th, 2007|04:05 pm] |
Spent all night last night going through the last 7 years of music on my itunes library. I deleted about 5Gb of stuff I never listened to.
It was causing me a lot of anxiety. I've kept it because I have enough space. Most of it is recommendations from various sources and downloading back catalog of new bands I like. But it mostly just cluttered my iTunes. So its gone.
Also, listening to music even from 2004 isn't the same. I still like a lot of it, but can't really get the same thing from it now that I did then. |

The JBWeld worked and I set my stereo back up. Its nice to be able to listen to it again. The fm tuner I have just went for $1500 on ebay, crazy.
Speaking of crazy... since hooking my stereo back up I've delved back into the sick sad world of audiophiles and found this.
http://www.musicdirect.com/product/74066
Thats fucking crazy. The audiophile world is fucked up. What you have is a bunch of people with way too much fucking money. I mean this shit sells itself. Just put an outrageous price tag on things and audio review magazines have to rave about it or they lose credibility. Rich people buy it because its expensive, and the others obsess and dream over, but ultimately have to settle for the slightly less ridiculously priced item.
Its all marketing too, the website for that power cord offers little technical data on it. What can it do, reveal it is in fact no different than any other power cable?! But it doesn't matter, audiophiles sell themselves on this kinda shit.
Audiophiles reject the 'technical stuff' they believe in the subjective. Even if they were faced with scientific evidence that showed a $3000 power cable does nothing to improve the sound it would not stop them. They would say 'you have to hear it to believe'. No you have to believe it to hear it.
Its ironic, it's a gear obsession that simultaneously rejects the technical. Music should be the thing that moves and excites. But not for an audiophile, read a review and things like interconnects and speaker cables have the ability to make music 'danceable'.
Do people who enjoy paintings obsess this much about how its lit? http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=81533 |

broken social scene has got to be the best band live. though tonight it was specifically broken social scene presents kevin drew. so it lacked the female enticement of a emily haines, feist, or amy millan. but it was spectacular.
the show started early, so we went to grog to see Caribou. k is amazing to see shows with...
it was a great night |

| | Sundialing - Caribou | ] | Ordered some tan bar tape for my Nitto drops. I can't wait to get them on my bike. Well actually I can, my wrist hurts really bad I probably won't be able to ride for a while. There is an alleycat in Columbus I may try to join, but it's the weekend before finals.
I'm going to get a Bell Citi bike helmet. I'm trying to decide between metallic blue or safety yellow.
This Caribou album is good |
